You’ve spent months working with your web designer to create a pixel perfect website to reflect your brand perfectly! It’s finally time to launch your project to the world and get ready to start taking those enquiries and orders!
You let your facebook friends and family know that you’re about to launch and you get an initial hit of around 200 visitors showing on your analytics! Not bad! but after a week you’ve noticed that your website hits are starting to drop off. After a month you are getting at most 10 hits a day, your excitement has lulled and your website has turned into something you’ve kind of forgotten about.
So what can you do to turn this around, or even prevent this from happening in the first place?
Put some effort into your content strategy
Take the time to research your audience and deliver high quality, relevant content which actually gives them the information they are searching for. If you do this consistently then your users will be back for more!
Put some effort into learning basic SEO
SEO is the cornerstone tactic for getting found online. Before the likes of Facebook marketing, adwords and influencer marketing … it was by far the most powerful method of marketing your website.
Nowadays we have more options available to us, particularly with the rise of social media, but It’s always worth investing some time and effort to make sure you have the basics covered. You could hire someone to make sure that your site is optimised for your specific keywords, or you can invest the time to learn the basics yourself.

Buy facebook ads
As of the writing of this post, Facebook is the most affordable, accessible and powerful online marketing platform. It’s power lies in the massive user base which is segmented via their interests and habits.
This means that once you understand your customer you can target ads at them in their newsfeeds to get them clicking through to your website.
By adding a Facebook retargeting pixel to your site, you can also target visitors who have already visited your website, with more offers and content that they might be interested in.
Pay someone who already has an audience in your specific niche, to send traffic your way.
Influencer marketing is growing in importance, influencers are social media personalities who are followed and adored by their raving fans. They could be a blogger writing about a niche, a model on instagram, or a comedian on youtube.
Whatever guise they come in they have one thing in common, they have a large dedicated following in a specific niche. And more importantly than that, their fans usually are emotionally invested in them and feel like they can trust the influencer. This translates to a powerful marketing tool, where an influencer can put a link through to your website or product and you are guarantee … targeted, relevant traffic.
There are many ways that you can work with influencers, either through contacting them on social media, or through special agencies who will match you with the most suited influencer. Either way, they are starting to realise their worth. Whereas you might have been able to give them free product a couple of years ago, they now usually want cash as well.
Make sure that you have an incentive backed lead magnet on your website
Email marketing is slowly losing its share of the digital marketing mix, but it’s still relevant. The idea is that you entice a user to sign up for your newsletter with a form on your website, and in exchange for their email address, you give them some specific actionable content like a PDF or an ebook. From here you have their email address, so you can effectively market to them for free, by sending them an offer or content via email.

It’s up to you to experiment with these different techniques and decide which is going to work best for you. But it’ll usually be a combination of Facebook ads, SEO and influencer marketing to get the users to your website, then, it’s a case of using an email signup form with an incentive to get them on to your email list.
